Accreditation


New York City College of Technology is fully accredited by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (1007 North Orange Street 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801, 267-284-5000). The college is also accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

Additionally, degree programs are accredited by the Council of Standards for Human Services Education (CSHSE), the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA), the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association (CODA), the Commission of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Legal Assistants (ABA), the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Council of Associate Degree in Nursing (CADN), the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ETAC/ABET), the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation and the United Opticians Association, and the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP).

The department of Architecture is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

The Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York grants professional licensure/certificates to qualified candidates.

Professional Licensure Disclosure
New York City College of Technology has not made a determination that its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification for any state outside of New York. Our academic programs meet the accreditation and licensure/certification requirements as well as prepare students to apply for licensure/certification exams in the State of New York. As a result, licensing/certification requirements in New York may not be recognized as sufficient to obtain licensure/certification in any other state.

As of the Fall 2025-Spring 2026 academic year, New York City College of Technology does not offer any distance education programs that lead to professional licensure. Our  degree programs currently leading to licensure include Nursing (AAS), Dental Hygiene (AAS), Radiologic Technology (AAS), Ophthalmic Dispensing (AAS), Technology Teacher Education (BSEd), Career and Technical Teacher Education (BSEd), Math Education (BS), degree programs offered by the architecture department that can lead to becoming a registered architect, engineering technology degree programs that can lead to becoming a licensed professional engineer, the Transition C Certificate Program in Technology Education, Initial and Professional Certificates in Career and Technical Teacher Education, the Extension Certificate in Work Based Learning, and the Construction Management Certificate.
